Profile of the College

The B.Com course was introduced in the academic year 1966-67 to fulfill the needs and demands of the students belonging to this region. By 1966, the college was offering all the traditional courses in the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce. Moreover, the college has conducted its decennial celebrations in the year 1966. Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, the then Minister of the state had inaugurated the celebrations as chief guest.

            The foundation stone was laid for the present building in 1964. Sri Burgula Ramakrishna Rao graced the occasion. The dream of the visionary was taking a definite shape. In August 1968, the institution moved into the present spacious premises constructed at a cost of fifteen lakh rupees. Now the college has an area of 18 acres, 29 guntas. It has further grown phenomenally into a multi-faced and multi-dimensional institution. The college campus is eco-friendly which promotes peace of mind and creates conducive academic environment. The college has 95 rooms housing 17 departments of U.G with 18 laboratories and 5 departments of P.G with 9 laboratories.

The college has 35 regular teaching staff including principal, 4 part time Lecturers, 19 contract Lecturers, 18 guest faculty members and 23 non-teaching staff. Of the 35 regular Lecturers, 15 have Ph.D degree, one of them is pursing post-doctoral research, 11 have M. Phil degrees and 8 staff members have been pursuing their Ph.D. All the staff members have been discharging the duties to the best of their abilities for strengthening the institution. The college is catering to the higher educational needs of economically, educationally and socially backward students who hail from nearly 100 villages around Siddipet town.

Since its inception in the year 1956, the college had been nursed, nourished and nurtured by the galaxy of eminent educationalists like IIT icon Sri Chukka Ramaiah. Due to their selfless and untiring efforts, the institution has grown from strength to strength and stage by stage in academics and infrastructure. The college is always ahead in encouraging the faculty members to participate in orientation courses, refresher courses and to attend National and International level seminars, workshops and conferences so as to enable them to enrich with innovative teaching tools in general and to improve research skills in particular. As far as publication and research works are concerned, so far our faculty members have presented 65 research papers in ISSN and ISBN. They attended 144 National level seminars in which 122 papers were presented. They also participated in 15 International seminars and attended more than 30 Refresher and Orientation courses to their credit.

  1. Honors work is encouraged and in recent years has been undertaken by nearly half of the graduating class. Students may take courses at any of the colleges, and the schools’ proximity adds to Amherst’s rich social and extracurricular life.
