Best Practices

  • We have facilitated two sign boards for displaying famous and inspiring quotations. Two students of our college got motivated and took the responsibility of writing such inspiring and motivating quotations every day.

  • Career Guidance and Counselling Centre of our college is educating and sensitizing students from inside and outside the college about the strategies, planning and preparatory tips for various competitive examinations of central and state services.
  • Department of Microbiology is displaying one question regarding science in our day-to-day lives on every Thursday on notice board. Answer will be displayed on Monday. It also exhibits articles regarding the life and profile of Scientists and their findings. It is also subscribing “Science Reporter” for the students. It is also organizing monthly quiz programmes.
  • Department of Physical Education is organizing fitness programme to our students and preparing them for various recruitment selections especially in Police and Army services. Under this programme, the department is imparting coaching, conducting competitions in the events of running, jumping and throwing which are the criteria for most of the selections.
  • Bar Code Reader has been introduced in the Library.BEST PRACTICE – 1
    1. Title of the Practice:

    Library User Awareness Programme: for better utilization of the Library Print and Electronic Information Resources of by encouraging the students and teaching staff to reinforce Academic and Research pursuits.

     

    1. Goal:

    For  effective use of Library Information Resources and Services to Users of college, i.e Teaching staff and Students, engaging faculty in research programmes as well as students in study projects.

     

    1. The Context:

    The college Library is equipped with rich collection of Text books, Reference books, Journals, Periodicals, News papers etc., which is an outstanding feature unique to thus college. The freshers of UG courses are given Orientation about the utilization of library resources for the optimum use and inculcate the reading habit. Accessing the vast number of library books is facilitated by the use of SOUL software developed by INFLIBNET.

     

    1. The Practice
    • Conducts user awareness programmes to students for effective use of library resources such as Books and periodicals and question papers of previous examinations.
    • Provides reference Services for project works, Assignments, Eloqution, Quiz, Essay writing competitions at various levels to participating library readers.

    To guide and advise the UG students to pursue PG courses and appear for various competitive exams for employment in Government and Private sectors.

    1. Evidence of Success
    • Number of users visiting this library improved by open access Library management.
    • Every year students are getting Post Graduation admission in Central and State Universities, Competitive Examinations. The Commissioner of Collegiate Education has applauded our best practice and stated that it stands as model to the rest of the colleges in the state.
    • Library Timings also enhanced from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm (actual timings 9:00 pm to 3:30 pm).
    • Compilation of paper clippings of various activities /events /programmes /seminars organized and conducted by several departments of this college. Achievements in various competitions at different levels are also being documented systematically date-wise, page-wise etc.,

    BEST PRACTICE – 2

     

    1. Title of the Practice:

     

    Improvement in the participation of students in academic and extra-curricular activities at national and state level

    1. Goal:

    The goal is to identify interested students and nurture their skills so that they could hone their skills to optimum level.

     

    1. The Context:

    The students who showed interest in curricular and co curricular activities were identified. They were imparted motivational lectures. They were made to compete among their class mates at regular intervals.

     

    1. The Practice
    • Students who have a passion /inclination for teaching were given opportunity to take part in the selection process of MANA TV live telecast presentation.
    • The students who were interested in co-curricular activities were given opportunity to participate in State level and National level competitions such as YUVATARANGAM, YUVAJANOTSAVALU.

     

    1. Evidence of Success
    • The number of students who got ranks and seats at various PG courses increased.
    • The Commissioner of Collegiate Education announced Rs. 50,000 cash incentive for the students who get a PG seat in Central Universities. Five students got opportunity in this category.
    • Students came out with flying colours as evidenced by their getting selected in district level, state level competitions of
    • YUVAJANOTSAVALU
    • YUVATARANGAM
    • Osmania University level competitions for sports and cultural activities
    • Maheshwari (B.Com II yr.) stood first in the National level competitions at Bhuvaneshwar, Odisha.
    • One NCC cadet participated at Republic day parade  in 2016, the third one in the consecutive 3 years.
    • Three Students also got selected ( at state level)to teach a live telecast lesson on MANA TV.
    1. Problems Encountered and Resources Required

    As the college had adopted the CBCS and Semester system the students had to lose working days owing to their participation at District, State and National level competitions. But we persisted and the students took extra classes to fare well in academic and competitive exams.

    BEST PRACTICE –3

    Title of the Practice:

     

    INFRASTRUCTURE: Construction of classrooms under RUSA

     

    1. Goal:

     

         To construct 4 classrooms to meet the demand of growing strength

     

    1. The Context:

     

         For the past 4 academic years the strength of  students who join the college has been in steady increase mode. But the number of classrooms is not sufficient to meet the demands.

     

    1. The Practice:

     

         The college has opted for the grants of RUSA under VII component.

     

    1. Evidence of Success:

     

         The college was the first one to get the acceptance of the state RUSA for the grants.

    The inauguration for the construction of building was done on 18 Feb 2016 and the rooms will be ready in two months to occupy.

     

    1. Problems Encountered and Resources Required

     

    The college had to accept some academic and governance  reforms under RUSA as the funds are norm based.
